History

Originally the northern end of the Wollongong Mission within the Archdiocese of Sydney and having Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Parish at Erskineville as the neighbouring parish, Camp Creek (Helensburgh) was very much in the wilderness.

This, the Short History of Holy Cross Parish Helensburgh is a work in progress that will be updated and expanded as the research material is written up. Please visit regularly so you can be part of the celebration.

Unfortunately, much of the parish archive was destroyed in the 2009 fire at Holy Cross School thus making the work of our researchers even more difficult. If you have, or know of any photographs, personal recollections or memorabilia, we would be most grateful if given the opportunity to make a copy. The collection of  Historic Photographs  in our  Photo Gallery  is expanding as the parish researchers complete the cateloguing.
